I invite you to read this article: Two Chandigarh University students held for thrashing teacher with sticks (ampproject.org)
This is the ground reality in a university ranked 26 in India's official NIRF ranking! Students thrashing teachers with sticks to get attendance!
This is why I often say: Don't just go by "metric based rankings". A university is far bigger than just a bunch of numbers put together. Education requires a whole culture to be in place. Dig deep, find out the ground reality, and if a university's culture is weak, just stay away.
This is the second big disgrace this university is facing within the last year! Last time around it was a student leaking objectionable videos of her co-students.
Pity!
(It also so happens that while this university enjoys the 26th NIRF rank overall, it doesn't even feature in the top 50 in NIRF's research ranking! I don't want to speculate, but I do think this calls for some scrutiny.)
