If we are to have an educated and competent youth, society and workforce over the next 25 years, here's the most important thing to do over the next 3-5 years:
Every college/university needs to carry out detailed checks for competence in classroom teaching and faculty members found below a certain benchmark need to be filtered out of our educational institutions.
I have nothing personal against anyone. Maybe some of those who are filtered out will do well in CSIR / DST / DAE labs, maybe in public sector companies, maybe in a corporate environment.
But if one is in an educational institution, the commitment (and competence) to educate has to take precedence over everything else. Else we are looking at a rather bleak scenario vis a vis how good we will be as a society in anything.
