This is a critically important post:
The Sanskrit translation of Music is Sangeet. The Sandhi Vicched (Decomposition) of the word "Sangeet" is "Sang + Eeet". "Sang" means "in the company of" and "Eeet" represents "Eeshwar' i.e. "The Divine".
The pursuit of Music is considered to be a Spiritual Path. If you observe carefully, after a musician spends a few hours singing or playing his instrument, his face has a relaxed glow on it. And all over the world, listening to music is known to relax the mind and bring joy in the heart.
Music appreciation is a subject in high schools in the west that is given as much importance as every other subject. This is a very important thing to pick up and incorporate in our school education. It is beautiful to grow up with an understanding of what makes music so beautiful: the notes, melody, harmony, rhythm.
A famous musician once remarked: "Life is a canvas that we paint on with sound."
This is a deep statement that explains the relevance of music to those who are able to appreciate visual art but struggle with appreciating music. Just like a painter uses colors to create art that can be appreciated with the eyes, a musician uses notes (swars) to create art that can be appreciated with the ears.
If you have an interest in music, be sure to pursue it (even if you have to make an effort to convince your parents to buy you an instrument and enroll you in music classes 😅!). Trust me, it's a blessing 🙂, you're blessed 😊!
