Security Compromises At Airports, Railway Stations and Bus Terminuses

Some years ago two things happened in India that compromise security in my opinion;

1. The practice of stamping date-time-checkpoint information on tags attached to carry on bags after security check was stopped at our airports. To understand why this compromises security, I invite you to read this article on the 9-11 attacks in the USA : September 11 attacks - Wikipedia - and ask yourself the following question:

How were armed terrorists able to clear security and board the aircrafts they hijacked?

The answer is: Security was compromised.

Now consider this: Each and every luggage item beyond the security check points carrying a tag that displays the date, time and specific check point where it was cleared as safe adds a layer of security and safety that is well worth the few seconds it takes to stamp the tag. It was not wise to stop this practice. Our security was, in some ways, tighter than the rest of the world. We should persist with that instead of lowering it. It takes precisely two seconds to stamp a tag after the security check is completed. That's nothing for the added layer of security this practice provides.

2. The practice of scanning luggage at railway stations was stopped. This is absolute foolhardy! We are not living in a peaceful smuggling-free crime-free world. Instead of stopping luggage scanning at railway stations, the practice should be extended to bus terminuses as well.
