I put up a post yesterday featuring Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Dagar, a Muslim, who dedicated his life to Dhrupad, a form of Indian Classical Music that originated from the Hindu tradition.
Today I introduce you to his brother in arms, Sampooran Singh Kalra (Pen Name: Gulzaar 🙂), a Hindu Punjabi who chose Urdu as his language of poetic expression 🙂 and created such beauty in verse that he is regarded as one of the best Urdu poets to have ever lived 🙂!
I invite you to read this article that sheds light on his life and work: Gulzar - Wikipedia
This is how glorious and beautiful we are as a people 🙂!
That is why I say that there's just no chance of India ever losing its secular spirit. We're just too educated, too refined, for that kind of mindlessness 🙂. We will never be a Hindu Nation or an Islamic Nation or a Sikh Nation or a Christian Nation because such divisions simply do not make any sense! Those who want to live in religion-centric countries are welcome to emigrate to other parts of the world 🙂.
The identity that binds us together is simply: Indian. That's it 🙂.
