[I'm putting this post up because a significant percentage of higher education institutes in India are residential with students staying in hostels for the entire duration of their programs. The post is directed at students but colleagues and university administrators are welcome to make similar arguments with their students if they see it fit to do so,]
Here goes:
I've dated too, I've had my relationships; my generation opened up to partners living together while still not married, so we know what it is to be liberal, progressive, and question existing societal norms.
But what's happening today in the name of "being liberal" is nonsensical. Kids are sleeping around in their school years, those who didn't get hitched in school can't seem to wait till they at least complete their undergraduate education. As if sex is going to answer some deep and profound questions that their intellect can't (if they have one)!
Why? What's this tearing hurry to get laid about? Finish your college, get a job, make something of yourself in life, then by all means have your relationship! And if you like someone now, what comes in the way of just being buddies for a while: study together, have pizza and icecreams together, share a few laughs, be a bit patient, the physical aspect of your relationship can come once you've grounded yourselves individually. Why are you in such a hurry?
Are you getting what I'm saying?
