Read :)

There have been personalities who practiced their art so intensely for some period of their life that there was no time left for anything else. For example, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee used to practice his Sitar for 14 hours every day for some years while he was learning from Ustad Allauddin Khan. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia was known to lock himself up in a temple and practice his flute for 16 hours every day for some years. I've also known people who hold a day job to support their families but spend all free time practicing music and pursuing a semi professional career.

When one puts himself or herself through such a regimen, of course there isn't any time left to read books. And if you are in such a zone, all glory to you :)!

But such situations aside, one of the surest ways for your brain and intelligence to decline is not reading. No matter how busy you are, there is a half an hour sitting somewhere in your day when you can just put everything aside and read a few pages of a book or subject that interests you. Find that half an hour!
