Goodness gracious! The chap flounders right at the start!
This is what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHlON2xarg4
At 00:23, he recalls that Shiva is called Vairagi. This is correct. So far so good.
Vairagi means one who has attained Vairagya, i.e. Dispassion!
Dispassion, or Vairagya, is a very desirable state to develop as it can give you tremendous stability and centeredness when confronted with strong desires not being fulfilled easily or having to negotiate uncomfortable times. Pretty much everyone goes through such experiences, and having a measure of dispassion, or vairagya, gives one the capacity to say "Oh well... !" and move forward instead with sustained enthusiasm and positivity instead of losing composure and stability.
Shiva had mastered dispassion and is hence called a Vairagi. The example is set for each of us to follow.
This chap links "raga" to "color" and translates "vairagi" as being "beyond color". He then goes on to link this to why one should avoid wearing black clothes!
And what exactly would he recommend for dark skinned people :)?
I can think of thermal reasons to not wear black under the summer sun, but I would have to teach you physics to explain why :)!
#facepalm
