[Note: The intent of this post is not to suggest negative sentiments towards any race or people. I have friends all over the world myself - white, black, brown and yellow - and there's a tremendous amount of love and affection shared between us. But there is a certain amount of "waking up" that is required in this country. And this post attempts to do just that.]
Let me start this post by sharing a photograph I took of an advertisement in New Delhi a few years ago:
Observe carefully. This is an advertisement for a fertility clinic in India that features white caucasian people 😏!

It isn't just the western world that still occasionally struggles with the menace of white supremacy. I don't know about the rest of the eastern globe, but 74 years since independence and a large percentage of us still "wanna be white"! Our notion of beauty being tied to fairness of skin (and hence the prevalence of fairness creams!) is just one example. Look around you and you will see many a folk bending over in reverence the minute they spot a white foreigner.
In fact, give it a few more years and I reckon that many Indians will start walking around with their faces painted white to "feel good enough". That's how low our levels of self respect have stooped.
After 74 years we can't blame the British rule any more for our third world status.
We are third world because a large number of us have third world minds and attitudes with neither self respect, nor a sense of cultural identity, nor the willingness to work hard honestly, carve our place in the world, and express our uniqueness confidently on the world stage.
Forget about the British disallowing us from traveling in first class compartments during their rule here, did you know that there are restaurants in India owned and managed by Indians today that prohibit entry unless you go wearing western formals? There have been incidences of folks in ethnic dresses turned away and it took social media outraging to elicit an apology from the establishments.
No wonder the British were able to treat us like second rate citizens in our own country for two centuries and refer to us as "Bloody Indians"!
And this won't change till the day *we* change our mindsets.
Ever wonder why the west is ahead of everyone else in pretty much every aspect of life?
It is certainly not because of any lack of talent anywhere else 😊.
The west is ahead because they simply live their lives their way.
They don't care a hoot about how the rest of the world evaluates them. They are
least bothered about anyone else's opinion about them, about whether anyone
else *accepts* them or not, about how anyone else might rank them in any sphere
of life, tra la la la la...
They are simply being themselves. It is everyone else that is busy following. Hence they are ahead - by definition - and everyone else behind.
Get it?
