Difference Between Beaches And Classrooms

This is one of the most troubling news reports I have read in recent times:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/student-thesis-presentation-underwear-cornell-university-new-york-a8348716.html

Apparently when a professor advised her student against presenting her thesis in cut-off shorts, the student responded by wearing just her underwear in the presentation.

What disrespect for a teacher! What a collapse of value systems!

Glad the professor in question still has it within herself to speak her mind to her students. She was in the right (I would've been firmer!). And glad that several students spoke in her defense and set the record straight vis a vis the value she adds to her university and her students' well being.

My personal viewpoint: There's a difference between going to the beach and coming to college. We need to maintain that difference. You come to college to study. Focus on that. Study! And to the best of my knowledge, no professor has ever questioned anyone on what they wear when playing beach volleyball.

The word Liberal has a place in life.

But so does the word Conservative. It's not a cuss word.

There's a time and place for everything. Knowing this and living accordingly is part and parcel of being civilized.
